IFEJ-Flamingo Award for Financial Journalism closes on Sept 12

Submission of entries for the first edition of the IFEJ-Flamingo Award for Business, Economic and Financial Journalism closes on Thursday September 12, 2014.
All submissions are to be made at the Secretariat of the Ghana Journalists Association (Press Centre) by the close of business on September 12 and is opened to only  fully subscribed members of the Institute.

The award which was launched on Thursday August 14 by the Institute of Financial and Economic Journalists (IFEJ) is aimed at deepening the level of reportage in the area economic and financial matters.
The entries are for publications/broadcast from   July 1, 2013  to  June 30, 2014.

A statement signed by the President , Mr. Lloyd Evans stated that the awards are in 10 various categories ICT, Finance (Finance, banking, capital and money markets, insurance etc), Extractives, Agribusiness, Tourism, Business, Developmental issues, Rural Banking/Micro finance and Micro Enterprise, Business of Health and Best News story.

According to the statement, the ultimate award is the Best Business and Financial Journalist of the year which  will go to the participant who wins the Best Finance in addition to any of the two categories listed above. 

Currently, IFEJ has the World Bank, Enterprise Life Insurance and GIZ/SECO as partners who have all come up with good packages for some of the categories. 
Our principal objective is to match or overtake the level of the financial journalism in Southern and Eastern Africa and to also build the capacity of Ghanaian journalists to win international awards , the statement said.

The award ceremony is scheduled for Friday, December 5  2014 at the World Bank Ghana Office at 6.30 pm.
