Featured Member for the Month of January: Eunice Ofori Onwona

EuniceEunice Ofori Onwona is a young journalist currently on contract with the Broadcasting Board of Governors, where she researches, develops, and supports high quality digital media efforts for Voice of America media entity: Africa Rizing.

Eunice attended Emerson College in Boston, Massachusetts where she was rigorously trained by prestigious journalism figures. She graduated in 2014 with a Bachelor of Science in Print & Multimedia Journalism. However, she began perfecting her reporting craft long before. In 2013, she served as the Executive Producer for a television series aired in the Boston metropolitan area, called Every Woman Has a Story. The TV series profiled everyday women; recognizing their similarities, welcoming their differences and representing their voices in global conversation. After a successful premiere season, the show was given the Massachusetts/Rhode Island Associated Press “Best College Talk Show of 2013” award.

And in April 2014, Eunice was also given the “George Esper International Journalism” award by the Radio Television Digital News Association, Emerson College chapter. The award was in recognition of her work as a media monitoring fellow with the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Sierra Leone, in 2011 and her personal written project on Boston’s coexisting community of Jews and Palestinians.

Eunice would like her work to showcase and amplify the voices of underrepresented audiences, especially in Ghana and across the continent of Africa.
